Description
Carve a soft-cut block in sections, assemble it, and hand-print your design! In this engaging workshop, instructor Ouida Touchon will guide you through selecting a floral design from a variety of options she provides. You'll learn to carve your flower and foliage in sections and print them using your choice of archival, water-based inks. A Woodzilla hand press will be available for you to use in the printing process. All supplies, including assorted flower designs, carving tools, inks, and paper, will be provided.
About Ouida Touchon:
Ouida Touchon is a printmaker and painter based in Delta, Colorado. With a Master of Arts in Studio Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute, she brings a deep understanding of composition and technique to her work. Her art is a balance between socially conscious narratives—often celebrating the strength of women—and a passion for capturing the beauty of the observed world through graphic interpretation.
Ouida has exhibited nationally in venues such as the Coors Western Art Exhibition, Delta National Small Prints Exhibition, and the Brand Library & Art Center. She has received multiple awards, including the Selected Visual Artist Award for the Taos Summer Writers Conference. Beyond her studio practice, she is a dedicated educator, teaching printmaking at colleges and arts centers, as well as leading workshops that explore traditional and contemporary print techniques.
Her work is represented by Mixx Atelier (Telluride, CO), Artful Home (Madison, WI), Tubac Art and Gifts Gallery (Tubac, AZ), and Kalisher Art Publishing (Carrboro, NC).
