Did you know that basketball was invented at a YMCA? The tradition lives on in Fall 2024 as the Detroit YMCA hosts youth basketball leagues across metro Detroit!We can't do it without YOU!
YMCA basketball programs fuels community outreach to get more players involved in the sport of basketball. The program is designed to increase participation and act as a catalyst to get children active. Teams will practice once per week night and play games on Saturday!
Training and Screening:All youth sports coaches and referees will be required to complete a national SSN background check, online child abuse prevention and athlete protection training, and a YMCA sports league training, and provide 3 references prior to the start of the season. Approx.4-6 hours of training total.
An in-person skills training will be scheduled prior to the start of the season. Logistics will be sent to you after registration.

Logistics: This is an inter-YMCA league, Teams will practice at the South Oakland YMCA. Games will take place on Saturday and will rotate each week between the Macomb YMCA, Boll YMCA, Farmington YMCA and the South Oakland YMCA.
The schedule is as follows…Wednesday, September 25th: Final rosters and schedules will be published Monday, October 7th: First week of practices (days will vary per team)Practice Location: South Oakland YMCASaturday, October 19th: First GameGames will rotate each Saturday between the Macomb YMCA, Boll Family YMCA, Farmington YMCA and the South Oakland YMCA.November 25th - 30th: No practice or games Thanksgiving weekDecember 7th: “All Star Court” Final Games will be played at the Boll Family YMCA in Downtown Detroit*This League focuses on skill building and team cooperation, all players will recive a medal and a high-five and no official stats will be kept*
