All the inhabitants of San Francisco are hunkering down for the winter season, thriving on stored food from the fall gatherings. All animals, including us at Tree Frog Treks, are finding ways to explore their environment and how it has changed since summer. Even in temperate Central California a trained naturalist can observe seasonal behaviors and environmental factors intrinsic to winter. Join Tree Frog Treks and our experienced Wild Science team some winter exploration and learning as we journey from Holly Park to several wonderful parks nearby via bus and foot to discover the wild side of San Francisco! Campers will discover the amazing plants and animals who inhabit our beautiful city, from soaring Red-tailed Hawks to slimy Slender Salamanders. In addition to outdoor adventures, campers will perform hands-on science experiments, play games, and make nature-inspired art. They'll even get to have face-to-face encounters with our crawly Animal Ambassadors like Ziggy the Bearded Dragon or Blondie the Burmese Python! It's the perfect time to get and get dirty, so put on your explorer hat, grab your binoculars and bug nets, a let's hit the trail for some science fun! Holly Park Winter Camp is a highly mobile camp. Expect your campers to travel by "BMW" (bus, muni, walk) to parks far and wide during this session!
