Watercolor Workshop
Marinwood Community Center 775 Miller Creek Rd. San Rafael, CA 94903 Organized by Marinwood Community Services DistrictAbout this event
Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Saturday, October 19, 2024.
In this one-day workshop, you will spend the morning learning all about the fundamentals of painting with watercolor. Transparent watercolor is different from all other media and as such has some quite different aspects about how it is used. We’ll cover the materials used with watercolor, the ways that we apply watercolor to (its very particular) paper, color theory and color mixing, what a classic palette of colors is…we’ll discuss the importance of drawing (and drawing directly with the brush) as well as values and design/composition. We’ll stop for a half hour lunch break (bring your lunch), during which we’ll discuss the incredible history of watercolor painting in California. In the afternoon, we’ll work together step by step to make a watercolor painting. Each student should come to class with one sheet of Arches 140lb. Cold Press watercolor paper (approx. $10). Paints, palettes and brushes will be available.
Students will leave this workshop with a good grounding in how to work with this wonderful medium and a painting of their own!
Cancellation policy: Cancellation fee: $10.00. All cancellations must be provided in writing and emailed to csd@marinwood.org. We will not process refunds over the phone. Cancellation requests must be submitted before the session/program begins.
