This class will provide exposure to a wide variety of chamber ensemble music for the saxophone as well as an opportunity for students to develop musical interaction skills in a small group/chamber ensemble setting. The music literature we will study is from a vast array of sax quartet music including baroque, classical, contemporary and jazz traditions. Available music is adapted from or originally written for saxophone by composers such as JS Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Debussy, Ellington, Joplin, Mancini, Williams, Stalling, Nestico and others. Class size may vary from 4 to 12 members with a balance among soprano, alto, tenor and baritone sax. This is an intermediate - advanced group with a suggested 3+ years playing experience.
