It offers an exciting journey into the realms of environmental, structural, and geotechnical engineering. Through engaging lessons and hands-on activities, members will dive into the processes of water and wastewater treatments, seismic zone awareness, and soil impact on construction. Topics covered in Fall: Water Wonderland: Dive into the depths of environmental engineering as we explore the sources of Bay Area water and the treatment processes that make it safe for consumption. From mountain springs to underground reservoirs, discover the journey of water from source to tap. Engage in interactive discussions and hands-on projects to design and construct miniature water treatment plants. Wastewater Wonders: Explore the world of wastewater and its importance in environmental sustainability. Learn about the various sources of wastewater and how the wastewater treatment processes work. Through hands-on projects to design and construct miniature waste water treatment plants, and complete the urban water cycle. Seismic Safari: Jump on an adventure into seismic zone awareness as we uncover the geological forces shaping the Bay Area landscape. Discover the major fault lines and understand their implications on structural integrity. Engage in activities such as analyzing seismographs and building earthquake-resistant structures to prepare for the unexpected. Soil Science Performance: Get down to earth with geotechnical engineering as we explore the world beneath our feet. Learn about different soil types and their impact on construction stability. Through hands-on experiments and construction challenges, uncover the secrets of building on various soil compositions.
