ADULT OUTRIGGER CANOE (OC1) INTRODUCTION - October 5, 19, 26 Sundays 5, 19, 26 @ 10:30a - 12:30p For new paddlers 16 years + with no or very little solo outrigger experience wanting to get on the water to learn the basics in a fun and supportive small group environment in beautiful False Creek. This course runs once a week on Sundays for three weeks of every month from March to October. Led by a qualified coach, paddlers will learn how to care for their boat, water safety, capsize recovery, and basic stroke techniques. All necessary equipment will be provided. No membership is required. DURING THIS COURSE, PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN: ★ Equipment care and handling ★ Paddling stroke basics ★ Basic boat control, steering, and maneuvering skills ★ Learn and demonstrate a successful huli recovery (aka capsize drill) ★ Water safety protocols ★ What the best paddling clothing and gear is to use UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE AND THE PURCHASE OF A CLUB MEMBERSHIP, PADDLERS WILL BE ABLE TO: ★ Reserve club Clions on our online registration system (Skedda) ★ Be able to go for a paddle whenever paddlers want to on weekdays and weekends during club operational hours **WITH A PARTNER --> **Paddling partners are mandatory for all novice paddlers and ensure the safety of paddlers and club equipment --> **See FCRCC Club policies for further details: https://fcrcc.com/restrictions-on-novice-paddlers/ ★ Able to participate in fun club paddling events which are held throughout the year!
