Course Sessions Thursday, June 26 - 4:00-7:00pm - Course orientation on Zoom Sat/Sun/Mon, July 5-7 - 9:00-6:00pm - In person Prerequisite examples: - Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor (need not be current) - Lifesaving Instructor & Examiner (need not be current) - Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor & Examiner (since 2022; need not be current) - Lifesaving Society Sport Coach 1 (need not be current) Certification Pathway: - Swim Trainer candidates require 60 hours of learn to swim teaching experience (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, YMCA Canada, I Can Swim). Once that is acquired, they can apprentice on a full Swim Instructor course (40 hours). - Lifesaving Trainer candidates require experience teaching and evaluating at least 2 Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross courses. Once that is complete, they can apprentice on a full Lifesaving Instructor course (36 hours). - First Aid Trainer candidates require experience teaching 2 SFA courses and 2 SFA Recerts. Once that is complete, they can apprentice on a full First Aid Instructor course (40 hours) - Trainer candidates are required to take any required curriculum update clinics and purchase up to date materials if their awards are not current.
