Description
This four-week course is geared towards individuals who want to learn the basics of filmmaking and videography, with a focus on musical content. Three interactive lectures lay the groundwork for a video project which is guided by the students' passions. The final session invites each participant to share their project and receive constructive feedback from the instructor as well as fellow students. Details about each session are provided below.
A short list of online video resources is also provided below to illustrate basic skills and knowledge recommended for this course. The first session will expand on this knowledge by covering types and proper operation of cameras, lenses, light sources, and microphones that one may use. Monetary considerations when selecting equipment will also be discussed. Project planning happens during the 2 sessions, as the instructor demonstrates how different camera movements combine with light and microphone placement to achieve each participant’s artistic vision. The course will also cover software options, editing and file management techniques, as well as logistical considerations, ensuring participants have access to the skills and knowledge needed to realize their project. After a one-week break to allow participants to work on and complete their projects, the class reconvenes for the final session.
