About this event

Description

Option 2 - PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE - 4 weeks starting February 25, 2025

4 two-hour Vocal Improv workshops; Prior experience required – either students who were registered in Music Wellness workshop series Vocal Freedom and Expression through Improvisation; existing voice students of Viviane Houle, with instructor’s permission; or students with some experience with vocal improvisation.
Exploring voice can lead to greater freedom, creativity, and joy in the ways you relate to yourself and to the world outside. This new series of 4 two - hour weekly workshops, offered through the Conservatory’s Centre for Music Wellness, combines exploring the voice as our first and most natural instrument, with enhancing how we listen within ourselves, to each other, and our environment, and with the use of improvisational skills in daily life. When applied to making music, these life skills can facilitate greater expression and ease while playing practically any musical instrument.
What to Expect:
Participants will have the opportunity to explore and develop improvisational skills, range of vocal expression, listening skills and the ability to draw on one’s unique natural musical impulses. This workshop series empowers all participants with more confidence in their ability to use their voices to express deeply and meaningfully when speaking or singing. Please wear loose layered clothing and bring a water bottle. We will be sitting on chairs, standing and moving gently in the space. No prior experience required in singing or improvisation. Participants are encouraged to bring their curiosity about sound and the full expressive potential of the human voice.
