Description
Westhills Violin - Suzuki Prep I Class (Ages 5 - 7 years)
Learn the basics of the bow-hold, violin positions, songs, and exercises and jump-start pitch and rhythm recognition with other new and eager beginners! This class prepares children for private lessons in a fun and interactive way. Learning in a group promotes interest and willingness to practice, which are key to a beginner's success.
Parents are required to attend and participate in all group classes and private lessons.
The Suzuki program is based on the "mother tongue" teaching method of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Beginners learn to play by ear, through listening and imitation. Parents provide support by attending lessons, helping their children to practice and playing recordings at home. Group lessons are an integral part of this program, helping to reinforce skills learned in private lessons. A huge factor in Suzuki students' success is parental encouragement, co-learning and modelling. To support students and foster their success, parents are encouraged to take notes and participate in group classes.
