Description
The VCM Youth Cello Orchestra class will allow young, advanced cellists, from ages 12 to 22, to form an encouraging and fun learning space while playing as a group. The students will learn repertoire from classical original compositions to contemporary film and pop favourite arrangements in at least 4-part or more. The class will start with a technique warm-up and monthly selected etude to enhance students' technique skills. Students will develop aural sensibility and build their ensemble experience by blending multiple musical lines to create a unified sound. The class welcomes young cellists at a playing level of at least Suzuki Cello Book 3 level or above. Participants are strongly encouraged to register for private lessons but are not required to. The class is limited to a maximum of 15 registrants. We have a total of 10 weeks of classes in the Fall and will perform at the Cellobration Concert on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at UVic, time TBA.
