Learn how to create a rainbow of natural color on fiber using only plant, insect, and mineral dyes. In this two-day course, instructor and professional natural dyer Shelagh Jessop will introduce students to the ancient art of natural dyeing. This workshop will include some lectures and a lot of hands-on learning. Students will go home with fabric and yarn in a rainbow of natural color.
Students will move around a lot during class and life buckets and pots of water. In addition, students should wear clothes and shoes they can get very messy in, and bring plastic gloves (dishwashing gloves), an apron, a hat for outside, and other weather gear like sunscreen and bug repellent for the portion of the class outside.
