The Nature of....1800's British Architectural Design-A Free Lecture Series
Sundays, 3 pm - October 6, 13, and 20
Ever wanted to know what is so special about 19th century architecture like Rockwood? Familiar with the Gothic Revival, the Aesthetic Movement, and the Arts and Crafts Movement but always wanted to take a deeper dive? In conjunction with Rockwood's innovative art installation, The Nature of Gothic, discover the British design sources that influenced the picturesque appearance of Rockwood and many notable houses from the 1800's. Each 45-minute lecture will be followed by low-key opportunities to discuss important design publications from the period and see how they relate to The Nature of Gothic art installations. Sign up for one or attend them all!
Sunday, October 6 - The first of three lectures focuses on the Gothic Revival style in England and the United States a style that reimagines Medieval church architecture for modern 19th century builders like Joseph Shipley at Rockwood.
