Description
The course will provide registrants with the knowledge to respond to emergencies in the home, community or workplace. A variety of topics are covered: how to access the EMS system; recognize and respond to airway, breathing and cardiovascular emergencies; bone, muscle, joint, head and spinal injuries; bleeding and shock; first aid for poisonings; environmental emergencies; and CPR/AED.
This comprehensive 7-hour course is comprised of a 7 hour in class skills evaluation session.
Pre-requisite: Current Standard FA/CPR. Must not be expired. If expired, please register for full course.
*Emergency First Aid is Not an accepted Prerequisite
Prerequisite: Current Non-Expired CPR A/B/C must be shown to the course instructor upon arrival. If you expire prior to the in-person date you will need to take the full course instead of the recertification.
The Red Cross Accepts the following External Agencies - the qualification must still be valid in order to attend this recertification:
- St John's Ambulance
- Lifesaving Society
- Heart & Stroke Foundation
- Canadian Ski Patrol
Awards are issued to the candidate electronically through email. Certification of this award is for 3 years.
This course is a 7 hour Recertification Course. You must provide to your instructor upon arrival a Current Non-Expired Standard First Aid certificate.
The following items must be purchased in order to participate
• 1 CPR pocket mask with a 1-way valve
• 6 pairs of latex-free gloves
• 2 roller gauzes
• 5 triangular bandages
• 10 gauze pads
• 1 golf pencil
• 1 silver mylar blanket.
You may choose to purchase a leadership kit ($37.96) containing these supplies at this facility or alternatively, you may purchase them on your own.
100 % attendance and participation are required.
