Description
Bronze Star develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill and personal fitness. Candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills, and apply fitness principals in training workouts. Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion and provide a fun introduction to lifesaving sport.
Completion Criteria:
• Attend and participate in 100 % of the course.
• Successfully demonstrate competency in required skills, activities and final evaluation.
For Children 12 years and younger who have completed swimmer 9/ Star Patrol but are not eligible for Bronze Medallion.

Lifesaving - Bronze Star awards are mailed to successful candidates by the Lifesaving SocietyManuals required for the course (available at the pool):• Canadian Lifesaving Manual - approximate cost $ 51.00
The following items must be purchased in order to participate• 1 CPR pocket mask with a 1-way valve• 1 whistle (recommended Fox 40)• 6 pairs of latex-free gloves• 2 roller gauzes• 5 triangular bandages• 10 gauze pads• 1 golf pencil• 1 silver mylar blanket.You may choose to purchase a leadership kit containing these supplies at this facility or alternatively you may purchase on your own.
For Children 12 years and younger who have completed swimmer 9, star patrol but are not eligible for Bronze Medallion.
100 % attendance and participation are required.
Candidates are encouraged to bring goggles and should be comfortable swimming 100m-150m continuously.
Sunday Evening Leadership - Parents/ Guardians are restricted to lower lounge 5:00PM onwards as spectating area is closed for public.
