About the Race
Challenge Barcelona Triathlon is designed for all levels and ages. It's the only triathlon where you can swim, bike and run through the very streets and along the beaches of Barcelona. The 2025 edition offers six race formats and different participation categories:
Race Distances:

Middle Distance: 1,900 m swim (1 lap), 88 km bike (2 laps), 21 km run (3 laps)
- Sprint Distance: 750 m swim (1 lap), 20 km bike (3 laps), 5 km run (1 lap)
- Junior Challenge: 300 m swim (1 lap), 7 km bike (1 lap), 1.5 km run (1 lap)
- Aquathlon: 750 m swim (1 lap), 5 km run (2 laps)
- Open Water: 1,900 m (1 lap) or 3,800 m (2 laps)
- Individual: available for all distances
- Relay teams: available for Middle Distance (NEW in 2025) and Sprint Distance – form a team of 2 or 3 athletes, each completing a discipline
- Pairs: available for Sprint (only) – two athletes complete the full race side-by-side
The Course
- Swim: Held at Mar Bella beach, protected by breakwaters and offering spectacular views of the Barcelona coastline.
- Bike: A fast and flat course along wide seaside avenues, connecting the city to Mataró for Middle Distance athletes.
- Run: Along the beachfront promenade with constant support from the crowds and a festive atmosphere all the way to the finish line at Bogatell beach.
Tri Expo
The Tri Expo is the perfect meeting point for triathletes and endurance sports lovers. Held at CEM La Mar Bella, this space brings together leading brands in swim, bike and run, offering the latest gear, services and official merchandise.
