About this event
The World Travel Club is an opportunity to travel the world to learn from guides and scholars in that area. Students will be able to see and experience cultures that have shaped our world today. They might sit on the same steps as William Shakespeare did in England or walk through the same temple as Alexander the Great did in Greece. Having the opportunity to travel to the places where the events and moments that they learned in the classroom will open their eyes to new perspectives that can only be achieved when the students are there themselves. The destination and price of the tour will be presented to the students during the first meeting. The club will prepare them for the tour that occurs once the current school year has concluded. Students will be trained in the procedures and protocols of the tour. They will also be taught the basics of the language of the destination to assimilate as much as possible to that area. Students must write a reflection paper of their tour experience. Students interested in World Travel Club will meet with the program organizers to discuss the program in depth before registration. An interest questionnaire will be sent to families, all are welcome to attend. After the initial interest meeting, a registration link will be provided for those interested. Please check ParentSquare for announcements for the interest meeting location, date, and time. For questions, please email chad.hui-peterson@basisindependent.com or michael.tyler@basisindependent. The fee for the tour itself is NOT part of the club registration fee. Students enrolling in this club must intend to enroll in the international or domestic tour. The tour fee covers housing, transportation (flights, buses, & trains), and meals in the morning and evening. The additional fees will be discussed during the first meeting.
