About this event
In this class children will go on an adventure through the intersecting worlds of science and art. We will explore the world of Anna Atkins whose innovative use of new photographic technologies merged art and science. What do a camera and our hands have in common? They can both be used to create Art! We will experiment with digital and analog tools. Students will work with natural and man-made materials, creating and changing patterns, while learning how light can transform everyday objects into works of art. We will make Photo Dioramas, Sun Prints, Notans, and learn how to think outside the box by using our imagination. We will explore artists past and present, and make work inspired by Letha Wilson's photo sculptures, Travess Smalley blended computer graphics with physical collage-making and Daniel Gordon’s works that dissolve distinctions between collage, photography and sculpture. This class will be different than in past years, so students can feel free to register again and will have a new experience.
