About this event
Intermediate* TBD Materials and Studio Fee* Explore the therapeutic benefits of mask-making as a creative outlet for enhancing mental health. Through the process of designing and creating masks, individuals can express complex emotions, thoughts, and identities that are often difficult to articulate verbally. This hands-on activity allows participants to delve into their subconscious and confront inner conflicts in a safe and artistic manner. Furthermore, the act of masking can serve as a form of self-discovery and introspection, providing individuals with a deeper understanding of their own emotions and psyche. By engaging in this artistic practice, participants can develop coping mechanisms, reduce stress levels, and foster a sense of empowerment and self-expression. Join us in this transformative journey of self-exploration through the art of mask-making! *Basic Glass Working Skills: Participants should have a basic understanding of glass working techniques such as understanding and creating personal tools for glass distribution, various mold-making techniques (silicone & plaster), powder/frit forming and packing, and kiln operation. Familiarity with Glass Materials: Prior experience working with various types of glass, including fusing glass and glass powders, can be beneficial in grasping the nuances of Pâte de Verre and achieving desired artistic results. Knowledge of Kiln Operation: A basic understanding of kiln operation and temperature control is essential for successful Pâte de Verre projects, as the firing process plays a crucial role in shaping the final outcome of the glasswork. Artistic Creativity & Attention to Detail: An eye for design, creativity in exploring different color combinations and forms, as well as a meticulous approach to detail are important prerequisites for participants to fully express their artistic vision through the medium of Pâte de Verre. *Materials Fee finalized 2 weeks prior to be paid in full prior to check-in.
