Featuring a slat belt design often reserved for top-of-the-line manual treadmills, the ST90 stands out as an exceptional and unique treadmill for your home gym. The slat belt design is intended to improve safety and comfort, reduce wear and tear, and decrease noise. Additionally, slat belts tend to provide a better grip with sneakers, also contributing to a more comfortable workout. The conveyor slat belt design measures 20 by 60 inches and is both roomy and comfortable.
Now here is where the ST90 makes its debut as a step above the rest: It is powered by a 2.0 horsepower AC motor. I know, you see "2.0" and think that it is weak. But, this is an AC motor we are dealing with whereas most home treadmills, even the pricey ones, use a DC motor. So, what does that mean?
Direct-current motors, or DC motors, generally start more slowly and provide a direct current to power the motor. However, alternating-current (AC) motors use, as the name suggests, alternating currents to fuel the motor. AC motors are designed to run for hours at a time without overheating.
AC motors are usually found only on commercial treadmills because, well, they are a newer technology and quite expensive. But Sole has brought an AC motor to residential treadmills with the ST90. This bad boy can easily support multiple users and hours of strenuous activity. Additionally, it tops out at a speed of 12.5 miles per hour (a higher top speed than most) and offers 15 levels on incline. With a weight capacity of 330 pounds, the ST90 is built to be extraordinary.
The ST90 is feature heavy, as well. It comes with a large, 10.1-inch Android-based touchscreen with WiFi connectivity and screen mirroring. This bright and centralized screen makes it easy to view a workout, movie, or watch the news, keeping you connected while you train. The ST90 has 10 standard, 12 custom, and seven heart rate programs. However, the pulse grips on the handlebars will not provide as accurate of a heart rate reading as would a chest strap, which is not included with this treadmill. The ST90 also comes with a "free mode" which turns the motor off and essentially turns this treadmill into a manual one. How cool is that?
Other notable specs include Bluetooth speakers, a USB charging port, integrated tablet holder, and water bottle holder. However, it does not come with a console fan as do other Sole treadmills. The ST90 allows users to control both speed and incline conveniently on the handlebars with a simple touch. Given its convenience, power, and unique slat belt design, the ST90 is truly one of a kind.
