Description

Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Therapy)

Wednesday, June 11, 6:00pmCity Park Arboretum Trail
Shinrin-yoku, coined by the Japanese in 1982, can be defined as forest bathing” or “taking in the forest atmosphere.” It is part of a holistic approach to health that emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of connecting with the natural world.
During this two hour Shinrin-yoku experience, participants will be invited to connect with all of their senses, the forest & surroundings, and the more than human world. This guided outdoor healing practice is unlike a guided nature walk or hike, forest therapy deliberately sets a slow pace and invites people to experience the pleasures of nature through all of their senses. Each walk ends with an offering of light refreshments including snacks and a tea service (wild foraged when possible). $40/person.
Over 20 years of research have shown that Shinrin-yoku can lower cortisol levels, boost the immune system, and enhance mental clarity. Forest Therapy supports healing and wellness through immersion in natural environments.
