About this event
Science Bowl's purpose is to promote interest in, to strengthen and to expand knowledge in STEM, and to foster team collaboration. Students compete in groups of 4-5 members to verbally answer questions in biology, chemistry, earth and space science, energy, mathematics and physics. The team(s) competes in the US Department of Energy National Science Bowl's knowledge competition on these topics -- usually in a buzzer, quiz bowl format. It is one of the oldest and best-known science competitions. The tournament is usually the first Saturday in February (with 1-2 possible additional practice/invitational tournaments during the season). The team practices weekly when possible. There is some light, self-paced, independent research/study required. Categories are split and assigned to members based on strength or interest.
