College Essay Writing is designed for incoming seniors to get a much needed head start on the various forms of college admissions essays, especially to enhance the caliber of personal statements. By developing and re-drafting these required essays, students will be able to enhance their written voice and leave a lasting impression on college admissions committees. In this workshop, students will learn strategies for selecting topics and styles that showcase their strengths and align with both their academic and personal aspirations. This course places emphasis on crucial narrative elements such as organizing a master plan, blending creativity with rhetorical appeal, concise expression, and the art of personal storytelling. By course's end, students will not only have completed the main essay portion of their applications but will also have crafted compelling narratives that can be used for various supplements. Ultimately, students will receive constructive feedback in a collaborative workshop setting, honing skills that extend beyond the college process.
