About this event
Let’s work together to capture great memories and put them into print! In this class we will be creating the Southeast Nashville Homeschool Enrichment yearbook as a team. Students will be involved in every aspect of the process and get to experience the many roles required to bring a printed project to life. As we learn how to photograph events, get hands-on experience with project management and acquire basic graphic design skills in preparing the yearbook for print, everyone will have the opportunity to hone their talents and discover new ones along the way. We will cover the following throughout the school year: Intro to Photojournalism Photography basics How to work with natural/available light Capturing the moment How to diversify image options quickly as you work Simple editing techniques to enhance your photography Design Essentials Project management and planning. Intro to graphic design and the principles for creating beautiful layouts Teamwork and collaboration Students will need basic computer skills (open documents, cut and paste, etc). They will also need access to a digital camera and computer, preferably a laptop they can bring to class. Cell phone cameras are fine. We will be dividing up the program’s major events and documentation of classes amongst yearbook students. All participants should be prepared to commit to some work outside of our class time. This class is designed for students in grades 8th -12th. 7th graders who have previously taken photography, digital arts, or have some experience may also enroll. Instructor: Mel McLellan
