Introduction to the Music, Dance, and Literature of Spain & Latin AmericaFridays, (6 – 8:30pm)

This course explores the musical, dance, and literary manifestations of the Spanish and Latin American world during the 20th & 21st Centuries. Following the inspiration of Lorca’s notion of Duende (a creative force of unprecedented freshness) we will focus on iconic cultural phenomena of the Hispanic world, such as Flamenco, or Tango, Lorca’s poetry. As part of the course, students will be invited to experiment and create original materials (poems, tunes, even little choreographies) based on the materials and ideas we have learned.
