Pack
Traditional internal frame packs can tip the scales at 5 pounds or more. Truly lightweight backpacking packs weigh less than 2 pounds. For an ultralight trip, focus on the weight of the pack, not the capacity. You can always find a way to make it all fit, even if that means attaching something to the outside of the pack.
The best lightweight packs aren't sold in REI or your local outfitter. You can purchase them from "cottage industry" online retailers, such as Gossamer Gear, who use the lightest, strongest, state-of-the-art fabrics like Cuban fiber or spinnaker fabric.
4. "The more you know, the less you need to carry."
Lightening your load can take years of trial and error to get right. Many seasoned ultralight backpackers would even say that they're always evolving, modifying and honing their systems. No matter what, always remember to enjoy the journey and never sacrifice safety just to carry a lighter pack.
