Get Creative With Your Resources
Just because you're camping, doesn't mean you don't have the resources you need for a weightlifting workout. In fact, the most resourceful ways to stay fit may already be at your campsite. Ready to start lifting?
- Water jugs: If you brought a jug of water, use this for arm workouts. From curls to shoulder press, you can easily perform a gym-style workout.
- Large rocks: These are some of your best resources around the campsite. You can jump on boulders for legs or throw very large rocks for your arms. You can even try standing on a thin rock without falling off to work your core.
- Tree branches: Tree branches are perfect for pull-ups. Before lifting yourself up, however, be sure the branch is sturdy enough to hold your weight.

Bring Fit Gear
If your campsite is already booked, and you're unsure of its active options, bring gear that's light and portable. You can do workouts right at your campsite if there aren't many other fitness options. So, what camping-friendly equipment can you bring?
- Jump rope
- Resistance bands
- Medicine ball
- Light dumbbells
- Exercise wheel
- Hula Hoop
Get Active With Your Kids
With nothing but wide open space, your kids are moving the entire trip. Whether they're running, biking, skateboarding or rollerblading, their active tendencies could get you moving too. Taking a solo run around the campground is enough to get your heart pumping. You can run along beside them and enjoy some quality family time, as well.
Despite what you may think, there are a variety of easy ways to stay fit while camping. So, instead of throwing your fit routine out the window, see how you can change it up while staying on track.
