42 Annual Longmont Turkey Trot

What Makes it Special: Most Turkey Trots usually run a distance of 5K—and some usually offer a longer 10K option. Not the Longmont. Its 10K race is go long or go home (actually, it does offer a two mile course). In its 42nd year, it's not looking like it intends to slow down anytime soon. Added bonus: All proceeds benefit the City of Longmont Youth Scholarship Fund.
Bainbridge Island Turkey Trot
Bainbridge Island Wa.; Nov. 24, 2016 2 of 11Cost: $10-$20
What Makes it Special: Bainbridge Island in the beautiful Puget Sound off Washington's coast is almost reason enough to make this Turkey Trot special. It's worth the ferry ride over from Seattle if only to take in the island's quaint community. Proceeds from the race also go to benefit the Helpline House.
Denver Pumpkin Pie
Denver, Colo.; Nov. 19, 2016 3 of 11Cost: $25-$35
What Makes it Special: Denver is already a hive of activity, but this race will be run in one of the city's best running routes at City Park near Colfax. Participants can look forward to finisher's medals and a slice of pumpkin pie at the finish line.
Gilbert Turkey Trot

What Makes it Special: This race has raised thousands of dollars over the last few years to benefit children in need throughout the Gilbert community. So even those out-of-towners who dropped in for the fun of the festivities can leave knowing they've left a greater impact beyond their finishing time.
Leftover Turkey Trot
Longmont, Colo.; Nov. 26, 2016 5 of 11Cost: $10-$25
What Makes it Special: This race takes place two days after Thanksgiving—just enough time to let you really consider whether you need to do those three miles after all. When the answer is an inevitable yes, this Leftover Turkey Trot race will be there to burn off those calories. The race benefits two local nonprofits: Camp Prime Time and Yakima Greenway.
South Davis Thanksgiving
West Bountiful, Utah; Nov. 24, 2016 6 of 11Cost: $12-$30
What Makes it Special: A variety of distances are available so that nobody will feel left out: 1K, 5K and 10K offerings make this race accessible for the entire family. The course runs through beautiful Bountiful, Utah. And the name is fitting, because you'll be making room for all those bountiful calories. Er, blessings.
Anthem AZ Turkey Trot

What Makes it Special: In its 14th year, this rolling course winds through the beautiful Anthem community in the shadow of Daisy Mountain and Gavilan Peak.

What Makes it Special: It's hard to believe that San Diego has only one Thanksgiving race, but alas, here it is. Open to walkers and runners alike, the race offers three distances: 5K, 10K, and a rare Turkey Trot 15K offering. And the views are unmatched, just in case you needed that additional arm twisting.

What Makes it Special: A rarity among Turkey Trots: This race has a mix of dirt and paved trails. Also features wonderful lake and mountain views.
