June 4-6 · Tiny House Window & Door Installation

Hammerstone Trumansburg • 3285 Jacksonville Rd. TrumansburgNY  14886 Organized by Hammerstone: Carpentry for Women, LLC

About this event

Overview: In this class we will learn the correct way to install modern flanged windows, the most common type in residential construction. We start with the window opening itself, cutting the opening in the sheathing and sealing the sill and jambs so that if water gets past the window, it will drain to the outside. Next we learn the correct way to install a window, ensuring that it is plumb and square and functions properly. Finally we seal the exterior nail-fins, preventing water from getting into the rough framing. It’s not rocket science, but there are many steps involved; we cover them all from start to finish. Project description: This class will work as a team to install windows on the tiny house started in the Rough Framing: Build a Tiny House course. This class is ideal for tiny house enthusiasts, those interested in new construction of any kind, or those folks tackling renovations that include window or door replacement. We will discuss the importance of and methods for proper air and water management around openings. This class is part of our Tiny House series. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
