This NRA Basic CCW course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. This course will also help prepare the student for participation in more advanced NRA pistol courses. This course will be focusing on the basics. In this course, we will cover: – Gun Safety – Pistol selection – Firearm characteristics and parts – The basic fundamentals – Proper form – Skill maintenance – Ammunition types and differences – Common errors and how to correct – Stoppages and corrective actions – Firearm cleaning This class is a perfect starting point to your never-ending training. It is a wonderful fit for folks of all ages. We especially love having the opportunity to educate the young ones, as youth firearm education is very near and dear to our hearts. This course will not include: public carry information or live fire. If you are an experienced pistol shooter and are interested in learning how to effectively carry and draw from concealment, I strongly encourage you to check out our NRA Basic CCW 102 – pistols in public class. This course is approximately 7 hours and will be conducted in its entirety at the Veterans Hall in Waukee, IA. The class certificate received after successful completion of this course does satisfy Iowa's educational requirement for an initial Concealed Carry Permit or renewal application.
